This course is designed to enable the student to read and interpret shop and structural drawings and blueprints. Emphasis is placed on structural shape identification, nomenclature, and welding symbols. (Formerly WELD 59)

All students are required to bring the following Personal Protective Equipment items with them in order to participate in laboratory activities; Leather work boots (must cover the ankle), cotton clothing (long pants and shirt), leather welding jacket, leather welding gloves (gauntlet style), TIG welding gloves, clear safety glasses, welding cap, ear plugs, welding hood (Shade #10), 3 ring binder, 200 sheet protectors, pens, pencils, highlighter, college ruled paper. The following tools are required for participation in laboratory activities; chipping hammer, large wire brush, Vise Grip pliers (9?), MIG welding pliers, soap stone, paint marker, tip cleaners, flint striker, cutting goggles (Shade #5). The following GTAW torch parts are required to fit a Weldcraft WP ? 20 series; 3/32? tungsten (blue/gold), 3/32? collet body (WP-20 torch), 3/32? collet (WP-20 torch), #4 ceramic cup (WP-20 torch), 7? back cap (WP-20 torch), and torch cup gasket (WP-18), wooden handle stainless steel wire brush (tooth brush style).
